Peer Review and Accreditation
CML was peer reviewed by a quality system expert from SAC and a team of experts from the international chemical metrology community in January 2011 and May 2014, respectively. The main objective of the peer review is to evaluate the laboratory’s capability and competence in realising national measurement standards, establishing traceability in organic and inorganic chemical measurements, and in disseminating traceability to its customers in the context of the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM MRA) and in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ISO Guide 34:2009.
CML was also accredited by SAC as a PT/EQA provider in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17043:2010.

Collaboration with National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO), Brazil
HSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with INMETRO, Brazil in March 2010. The MOU aims to develop technical co-operation in the areas of chemical metrology based on the respective experiences in the scientific research and capabilities of both HSA and INMETRO.
HSA and INMETRO completed two bilateral comparisons, namely: the determination of mass fraction of benzoic acid in orange juice and the determination of mass fraction of lead in cachaça. The orange juice material was prepared by HSA and subsequently used to conduct proficiency testing programmes in both Singapore and Brazil. The cachaça material was prepared by INMETRO and also used to conduct a proficiency testing programme in Singapore.
Collaboration with Laboratoire national de métrologie et d'essais (LNE), France
The Applied Sciences Group of HSA signed a Collaboration Memorandum with LNE, France in May 2013. The memorandum establishes the intent between HSA and LNE to work in a collaborative relationship in the area of clinical metrology.
HSA and LNE completed several collaborative studies since establishing the memorandum. These included the value assignment of total cholesterol and total glycerides in human serum, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) in human haemolysate, and commutability of human serum samples.
