Scope of Services

The laboratory analyses the presence of controlled drugs in seizures. The drugs commonly analysed include:

  • Heroin
  • Cannabis
  • Amphetamines (including “Ice” and “Ecstasy” tablets)
  • Ketamine
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Buprenorphine
  • New Pyschoactive Substances (NPS)
  • Opium
  • Cocaine
  • Gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB)
  • Lysergide acid diethylamide (LSD)

The service also includes the issuing of analytical reports and providing expert testimony in court proceedings. In addition, the laboratory also provides consultations and training in the analysis of drugs of abuse and carries out research and investigation work in this area to improve and strengthen its analytical capability.

The laboratory also has a team of trained personnel for the investigation of clandestine laboratory.
