As part of HSA’s ongoing initiative to update and streamline the regulatory controls for health products, pharmaceutical products, commonly referred to as chemical and biologic drugs, has been introduced as “therapeutic products” (TP) under the Health Products Act (HPA). The advertisements and sales promotion of TP are controlled under the HPA and its subsidiary legislation, the Health Products (Advertisement of Therapeutic Products) Regulations.
This Guidance aims to clarify the principles of advertisement controls for TP set out in the HPA and the Regulations, and should be read in conjunction with the HPA and the Regulations

This guidance aims to clarify the requirements for advertisements and sales promotion for medicinal products. It is intended to complement the provisions under the Medicines Act and the Medicines (Medical Advertisements) Regulations.
All advertisements or sales promotions for medicinal products directed at the public need to have a permit from Health Sciences Authority.
