Our competencies and capabilities - in health products regulation of drugs and devices, blood banking and transfusion medicine, analytical and investigative testing as well as forensic science and forensic medicine - have broadened and deepened significantly since our formation in 2001.

In addition to our public health protection mission, we also strive to create a more conducive and smart regulatory environment that supports the development of the biomedical sector. We constantly engage with industry and healthcare professionals to fine-tune our regulatory system in its pro-enterprise orientation while ensuring that patients in Singapore continue to have access to safe, efficacious and good quality health products.

As the national blood service, we are responsible for the safety and adequacy of Singapore's blood supply, as well as providing essential transfusion medicine support services to our hospitals. We work very closely to support our clinical colleagues through our expertise in tissue typing and cell therapy, with the purpose of providing patients with new life-saving treatments.   

HSA's forensic professionals play a pivotal role in supporting our enforcement counterparts and the Judiciary in the administration of justice in Singapore. By capitalising on the synergistic capabilities of our laboratories, and through the use of state-of-the-art technologies, we also provide prompt and reliable analytical services to a broad client base.

Through our extensive network of partners and a pool of dedicated professionals proud to be called HSAians, we have grown in stature - both at home and abroad - as a science-based and science-led agency. By advancing our thought leadership and research capabilities over the years, we have explored new frontiers in our unique areas of expertise, including active participation in many influential global, regional and local networks and initiatives.

Our world today is more volatile and unpredictable than it was when we were formed. There is much work to be done as we enter our second decade. We will continue to apply the highest scientific, professional and ethical standards in everything we do as we gear up for the future, while always remaining true to our core values that define us.  This resolve and shared commitment across HSA will not only take us further into a more fruitful chapter, but closer to our vision of being a leading, innovative authority protecting and advancing national health and safety.
