Internship and Collaborations

The laboratory has attachment programmes with National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Polytechnics.

The laboratory is a member of Tobacco Laboratory Network, a network established by World Health Organisation Tobacco Free Initiative in April 2005. This global network comprises the government, university, and independent laboratories which aims to strengthen national and regional capacity for the testing and research of the contents and emissions of tobacco products pursuant to Article 9 of the WHO FCTC. TFI is the coordinating body and Secretariat for the programmes and activities of the Network. Once capacity is established, TobLabNet will be positioned as a counter-balance to the tobacco industry's decades-long predominance in the areas of tobacco testing, research, and international methods development.

Current activities include the following:
  1. Participate in tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide in mainstream cigarette smoke.
  2. Provide technical assistance in WHO initiated training programmes and capacity building.
  3. Participate in WHO initiated acitivites related to tobacco issues.
