22 Oct 2001: Risk assessment of allopurinol
Allopurinol can cause serious skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS), thrombocytopenia and allopurinol hypersensitivity syndrome (AHS). Physicians are advised that allopurinol is not recommended for the treatment of asymptomatic hyperuricaemia and to inform patients to discontinue allopurinol therapy at the first sign of rash and to seek medical advice.

08 Aug 2001: Suspension of product licence of Lipobay® (cerivastatin)
Bayer has voluntarily withdrawn Lipobay® (cerivastatin) in Singapore in view of increasing numbers of adverse drug reaction reports of rhabdomyolysis especially in patients taking gemfibrozil at the same time.
