			The suspension is taken in view of the reports of side effects involving muscular weakness (rhabdomyolysis), especially in patients taking gemfibrozil, another cholesterol-lowering drug, at the same time.

			The previous labelling recommended dosage adjustments for severe renal insufficiency only. Recent data have identified the need for dosage adjustments in patients with moderate renal insufficiency.

			Recent postmarketing experience in the USA have raised the need to highlight this adverse reaction to all end-users due to the spontaneous reports of myelosuppression received by both Pharmacia and the US FDA.
