MEDICINES (REGISTRATION OF PHARMACIES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2005

We have recently conducted a review of the Rule 3(4) of the Medicines (Registration of Pharmacies) Regulations which requires that the Certificate of Pharmacy Registration issued by HSA must be conspicuously exhibited at the operating premises of all registered pharmacies.

2. It has been assessed that with the availability of the pharmacy register at the HSA website, the public is now able to access this information readily and verify the registration status of a pharmacy without the need to view the actual hard copy of the certificate at the pharmacy premise. It is no longer necessary under today's environment to make it a requirement for pharmacies to display the registration certificate at the operating premise.

3. We are pleased to inform you that with effect from 1 October 2005, this mandatory requirement will be deleted from the Rule 3(4) of the Medicines (Registration of Pharmacies) Regulations. Please note that the Medicines (Registration of Pharmacies) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 have already been gazetted on 9 September 2005 to effect this change.

4. In addition, HSA will also cease to issue the hard copy of the pharmacy registration certificate to the successful applicants effective 1 October 2005. The applicants can access the online module “Enquire@prism” available at the HSA website with the dedicated password to obtain the details of the certificate and the applicable licence conditions.
