Common Reasons for Postponing Your Donation

If you have had:

 

  • Fever with a temperature of more than 38ºC:

    • Please wait 3 weeks after recovery or treatment;

  • Upper respiratory tract infections such as cold, flu, sore throat or any other symptoms of infection without fever:

    • Please wait 1 week after recovery;

  • Dental work e.g. scaling or filing:

    • Please wait 1 day;

  • Tooth extraction:

    • Please wait for 3 days after treatment (for wisdom tooth surgical extraction, please wait 3 months);

  • Minor skin infection:

    • Please wait 1 week after complete healing;

  • Chickenpox, chikungunya, dengue or measles exposure but NO infection:

    • Please wait 3 weeks;

  • Close contact with hepatitis B:

    • Please wait 12 months and after a full course of hepatitis B vaccination with satisfactory antibody response;

  • Infectious diseases such as chickenpox, measles, chikungunya or dengue fever:

    • Please wait 6 months after recovery; or

  • Tattoos, ear/body piercing, acupuncture or blood transfusions:

    • Please wait 1 year (unless disposable needles were used) and inform the attending doctor/nurse.
