The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has charged a 25-year-old woman, Low Hui Mei, in court on 24 October 2025 for the alleged trafficking of etomidate e-vaporiser pods.
2 On 22 October 2025, officers from the Singapore Police Force conducted proactive checks and detained Low at King George’s Avenue. E-vaporisers were found on her and HSA was alerted. HSA officers seized 11 e-vaporisers and 101 e-vaporiser pods from the accused. Laboratory testing confirmed that the seized pods from the accused contained etomidate, and investigations are ongoing.
3 The case has been adjourned to 31 October 2025.
4 HSA takes a serious view of e-vaporiser and etomidate trafficking offences. Importers, sellers and distributors of etomidate e-vaporisers now face stiffer penalties. These include 3 to 20 years’ imprisonment and 5 to 15 strokes of the cane for importers, and 2 to 10 years’ imprisonment and 2 to 5 strokes of the cane for sellers and distributors.
