Smith & Nephew Pte Ltd would like to update healthcare professionals of the ongoing performance of the monoblock Birmingham Hip Modular Head (BHMH) in patients already implanted with the device. Based on its performance review, Smith & Nephew considers that patients implanted with the monoblock BHMH device may be at greater risk of revision surgery. Physicians are recommended to maintain their routine follow-up protocol for patients who have undergone total hip arthroplasty, and to determine the need for any additional follow-up after detailed clinical assessment of each patient. Please refer to the letter for details.
