A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by B. Braun Singapore Pte Ltd to inform healthcare professionals of the voluntary recall of specific batches of the MonoPlus® suture, due to unfulfilled product specifications detected during a routine degradation test. If the thread degrades earlier than expected in the body after surgery, it could provoke wound dehiscence or failure to provide adequate wound support that could lead to life-threatening injury and pain. Treatment or reoperation could be necessary. If the needle detaches from the thread during surgery due to thread degradation, it could provoke impaired tissue trauma and extend the operating time. Additional test or re-intervention could be necessary. Healthcare professionals are advised to return all unused affected devices to B. Braun. In patients who had used the device, no additional follow-up is required; if patients present with any of the complications described, healthcare professionals are advised to act upon the hospital protocol for such situations accordingly. Please refer to the letter for details.
Only abstracts of the Dear Healthcare Professional Letters (DHCPL) are provided on this website.
