A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Medtronic International Ltd to inform healthcare professionals of a recall of specific lots of the Antibiotic Impregnated (ARES™) Catheters due to potential defect on the outer pouch seal. This defect may compromise the sterility of the pouch contents and increase the risk of post-operative infection. Healthcare professionals are advised to quarantine and return affected devices to Medtronic. While elective explantation or revision is not recommended, healthcare professionals are advised to monitor patients implanted with affected devices in accordance with their medical facility’s standard care protocols. Please refer to the letter for details.
Only abstracts of the Dear Healthcare Professional Letters (DHCPL) are provided on this website. Details of these letters can be found in the MOH Alert System, which is accessible via the Health Professionals Portal (HPP), a one-stop portal for all healthcare professionals in Singapore.
