A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Zimmer Biomet to inform healthcare professionals regarding a recall of specific lots of various polyethylene implants. The affected products are being removed due to the potential presence of elevated endotoxin levels that exceed the specification limit. Zimmer Biomet has assessed that affected products present the potential risks of adverse local tissue reaction, pain or ache, reaction to allergen or toxin. Healthcare professionals are advised to quarantine and return all unused affected units to Zimmer Biomet. Healthcare professionals who have treated patients using the affected devices are advised to follow up with these patients according to their existing follow-up schedules. Please refer to the letter for details.
