Boston Scientific Asia Pacific Pte Ltd would like to inform healthcare professionals about the occurrence of intermittent oversensing of the Minute Ventilation (MV) sensor signal reported in affected models of Pacemakers (ACCOLADE™, PROPONENT™, ESSENTIO™, ALTRUA™) and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy pacemakers (VALITUDE™, VISIONIST™). This letter outlines the important technical programming information to mitigate this risk. MV sensor signal oversensing may cause pre-syncope or syncope in patients due to periods of pacing inhibition. Boston Scientific is currently developing a software update designed to automatically detect and resolve this MV sensor signal oversensing behaviour. Until this software update is available, healthcare professionals are recommended to turn the MV sensor “OFF” for all pacemaker-dependent patients and to evaluate the risks against the benefits of MV sensor indicated pacing for all other patients. Please refer to the letter for details.
Only abstracts of the Dear Healthcare Professional Letters (DHCPL) are provided on this website.
