Medtronic International Limited would like to update healthcare professionals on the issue of unintended drug delivery with the SynchroMed® II priming bolus function, which was communicated in June 2013. Medtronic is updating the Model 8870 software application card used in the 8840 N’Vision® Clinician Programmer to mitigate the potential for clinical effects of drug over-delivery during the SynchroMed® II full system priming bolus procedure. Updated information has also been added to the manuals of N'Vision® Clinician Programmer and SynchroMed® II Infusion System. Healthcare professionals are advised to continue to use the current software cards until Medtronic has exchanged them with the new cards, and to refer to the new guidelines for the SynchroMed® II priming bolus function. Please refer to the letter for details.
