Covidien Pte Ltd would like to inform healthcare professionals of an update to the letter issued in May 2018 regarding Medtronic’s voluntary recall of Covidien Endo GIA™ Articulating Loading Units. Additional codes for Tri Staple 2.0 reloads and additional lots for the affected Endo GIA devices had been added to the recall. The recall was due to the potential for missing sled component in these affected Covidien Endo GIA™ devices. Using a device with no sled will result in no deployment of staples and may result in bleeding or leakage of luminal contents. Medtronic has received four reports of injury related to this issue. Healthcare professionals are advised to immediately discontinue, quarantine and return the affected unused units. Please refer to the letter for details.
