A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Medtronic International Limited, as a follow-up to their earlier communications in January 2021, July 2021 and March 2022, to update healthcare professionals on new patient management recommendation for all users of the HeartWare™ Ventricular Assist Device (HVAD™) Systems. Previously, Medtronic identified a subset of HVAD™ Systems that may experience a delay to restart or failure to restart at a higher rate than the overall population of HVAD™ Systems. Through ongoing investigation, it is recommended that all healthcare professionals and all HVAD™ patients, regardless of pump subpopulation, attach a controller AC adapter to the controller prior to a pump restart attempt when possible. Please refer to the letter for details.
Only abstracts of the Dear Healthcare Professional Letters (DHCPL) are provided on this website.
