Zimmer Pte Ltd is voluntarily recalling the Zimmer NexGen® Micro Implants (Femur, Patella, Articular Surface) and Provisionals, which are intended for use in total knee arthroplasty.Zimmer had received complaints of incompatible combinations used for implantation despite a correction notice issued in March 2012, reiterating that the compatibility chart should be followed. Zimmer has since been monitoring the occurrence of non-compatible micro component combinations being implanted. Although the occurrence has been reduced since the March 2012 notification, it has not been eliminated. As a precautionary measure, Zimmer is initiating a recall of the affected devices to prevent this issue from recurring. Please refer to the Dear Healthcare Professional Letter for more details.
