Illicit Drugs Laboratory

The Illicit Drugs Laboratory analyses for the presence of controlled drugs in seizures. Some commonly encountered controlled drugs include the following:

  • Amphetamines (including "Ice" and "Ecstasy" tablets)

  • Benzodiazepines

  • Buprenorphine

  • Cannabis

  • Cocaine

  • Gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB)

  • Heroin

  • Ketamine

  • Kratom

  • Lysergide (LSD)

  • New Psychoactive Substances (NPS)

Our laboratory is well-equipped with advanced analytical instrumentations and supported by a team of experts to identify illicit drugs and quantify substances with statutory limits. We conduct research and development in illicit drug analysis to strengthen forensic capabilities in support of the administration of justice. Beyond scientific excellence, the laboratory continues to push boundaries through innovation by integrating automation and digitalisation to improve workflow.
