For Public
1. I bought the TCM/health supplement overseas and want to check if it is safe for consumption. How can I go about it?
Testing is specific, no single test can guarantee the safety of the product. You will have to decide what to test based on the indications of your TCM/health supplement. Should you need to discuss further with our Officer, you can contact hsa_pd_enquiry@hsa.gov.sg and we will get back to you soon.
2. What are the charges for lab testing and how long does it take?
Our laboratory provides testing services to traders and general public with a fee. Our typical turnaround time (TAT) is 21 working days. However, the TAT can also vary depending on the types and number of tests requested. In general, the testing fee can range from $395.67 (Heavy Metals analysis) to $1068.20 (Common Poisons Screening test) per test depending on the types of tests requested.
You may also refer to SAC SINGLAS (Click ‘Advanced Search’, Scheme: Laboratories, Field/Programme: Chemical & Biological Testing) for the list of accredited commercial laboratories that could provide similar services.
3. I am experiencing adverse effect after consuming some TCM/health supplement. How can I report the case and send the product for testing?
You may wish to consult a doctor regarding the adverse event you have experienced and request that the doctor submit an adverse event report if he or she assesses that the adverse event could possibly be related to the product. HSA will follow up on the adverse event report and assess whether testing is warranted.
4. Do I need to collect my test report physically after the testing?
No, an electronic copy of the test report will be sent to your email.
For all other testing related enquiries, please contact hsa_pd_enquiry@hsa.gov.sg and we will get back to you soon.
