Software updates to mitigate the increased potential for reduced or no energy delivered during HV therapy in Medtronic ICDs and CRT-Ds with the AX>B pathway

A Dear Healthcare Professional Letter has been issued by Medtronic International Limited to update healthcare professionals about software updates for the CareLink™ 2090 and CareLink Encore™ 29901 programmers, and CareLink™ SmartSync Device Managers. These software updates mitigate the increased potential for reduced or no energy delivered during high voltage (HV) therapy in specific implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) when programmed with the AX>B pathway and align the nominal settings and programming screens with the patient management recommendations previously communicated in May 2023. Healthcare professionals are advised to ensure that all Medtronic programmers and device managers are updated with the respective software versions indicated in the letter. Device Instructions For Use of the affected ICDs and CRT-Ds have been updated and can be found online. There are no new patient management recommendations with this notification. Please refer to the letter for details.
