HSA Charges 18-year-old for Alleged Trafficking of Suspected Etomidate E-vaporiser Pods
The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has charged an 18-year-old male, Kwek Rui An Rayern, in court on 17 October 2025 for the alleged trafficking of suspected etomidate e-vaporiser pods.
2 On 16 October 2025, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority officers detected suspected etomidate e-vaporiser pods in the offender’s vehicle and referred the case to HSA. Two e-vaporisers and 127 suspected etomidate e-vaporiser pods were seized from the vehicle. Another five pods were seized from his residence at Bedok. The seized pods are being tested for etomidate and HSA’s investigations are ongoing.
3 The case has been adjourned to 24 October 2025.
4 HSA takes a serious view of e-vaporiser and etomidate trafficking offences. Importers, sellers and distributors of etomidate e-vaporisers now face stiffer penalties. This includes 3 to 20 years’ imprisonment and 5 to 15 strokes of the cane for importers, and 2 to 10 years’ imprisonment and 2 to 5 strokes of the cane for sellers and distributors.
