Unsuitability of TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh for repair of direct inguinal hernias

Novus Scientific Pte Ltd would like to inform healthcare professionals that TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh is not suitable for bridging gaps of hernia defects, such as the posterior wall of the inguinal canal of a direct inguinal hernia. This was based on the 3-year follow-up result of a clinical study, which showed a relative high recurrence rate in patients with direct inguinal hernia versus no recurrences in patients with indirect inguinal hernia. Novus Scientific will be updating the product’s Instructions for Use with additional contraindication and warning. Healthcare Professionals are advised not to use TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh in the repair of direct inguinal hernia. Please refer to the letter for details.
