Fake HSA Laboratory Report Used to Promote a Health Supplement Online

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has investigated and established that a Malaysia-based company, identified as “Champion Club International Sdn Bhd”, has posted a fake HSA laboratory report on its company’s Facebook page and blog to promote a health supplement labelled as ‘E250’.

2     HSA has ascertained that the above-mentioned product is not sold in Singapore and there have been no cases of adverse reaction reports associated with this product.

3     HSA takes a serious view of any act of forgery and the unauthorised use of its name for the purpose of product advertisement or sales. Companies are strictly not allowed to reproduce testing certificates issued by HSA or carry HSA’s name on its product as an endorsement of their product’s safety. HSA’s Legal Department has since requested the company to remove the fake laboratory report from its Facebook page and blog.

4     Consumers should therefore be wary of any health product advertisements that contain endorsements using HSA’s laboratory reports or marks of approval, as they are not likely to be authentic. Members of the public are advised to exercise caution when purchasing health products, and always obtain them from reliable and reputable sources. The dangers of online purchasing include the lack of information on the sellers’ location, the source of their products and the conditions under which the products were manufactured and stored. Products sold online could also potentially be counterfeit or adulterated with undeclared potent ingredients.

5     Members of the public who have any information on the wrongful use of HSA's name for promotional or endorsement purposes can contact HSA at Tel: 6213 0838 or email: HSA_Info@hsa.gov.sg.
